Flatwood Drop-Outs is a gay, furry visual novel that I've been working on for a while about you - the protagonist - being stuck in a small cabin with a bunch of strangers with nowhere to go, almost nothing to eat and nothing to do but try and survive the end of the world. Although it's still in development, and will be for a while, I'm uploading in the hopes that someone will find joy and intrigue by it.
All the art, music and writing is done by me - so that explains why it's all pretty crap. But I tried! I hope my deer boi Cooper is enough to convince you to hop on board the Flatwood train and see what happens to all these doomed little souls!

well I hope one day this project gets continued, I really feel like you were constructing an interesting world here, I know its pointless commenting like 2 years after the last update but one can hope (and I hope you're alright)

Well what can i say? i just fell in love for this VN.
This is my favorite update even if it's the only one. I love it when they played truth or dare, when they turned fighting the Epura into a gameshow, when Cooper and Lucas cuddled under the stars, and every moment of this update. I got a bunch of laughs, parts where I empathized with the characters, and overall really enjoyed this update. I love every single bit of this update and I can't wait for more of the story. I want to see how things will end up with Cooper and Lucas and the gang. I absolutely love this VN and I can't wait for future updates. Amazing job well done!

The game is... equal parts dark and humorous. It's like, it's incredibly good, I loved the characters very much, especially Don and Cooper. I also like the moral dilemma the MC went through with Dia, it was... with a lack of a better word, interesting. It was incredibly sorrowful, and I did feel myself almost shedding a tear because I am too sensitive for dark shit, but I still loved it-
I would love to see how this plot would play out!
That is so sweet!! Thank you so much!! I mean, I feel like a lot of dark narratives these days can be a little... overly serious sometimes. Not all, but some. So, I've tried to balance it out - give some nice, funny, even romantic moments as well as the dark and miserable ones. Though the happy moments will definitely be declining as the story progresses - it is the end of the world. (Also which moment did you almost shed a tear?)

That's a very good decision you made, to still give it a sort of humor/romantic touch to the situation, while still keeping the 'end of the world' atmosphere for the characters! And yeah, a lot of VNs these days have dark narratives, which I still like to play, but... I don't want to spend an entire week mulling over characters (Like Echo, it broke my heart), heh
The part where I almost cried was... well.. around the time when Dia started to sort of... fight back against the infection? Telling herself to shut up and all. And also when the MC had no choice but to let go of her hand, and when he finally grasped what the hell happened when the initial shock wore off. I've seen many stories with mercy killings in them, but this one was one of the most hard hitting ones due to Dia doing it herself, and the MC very reluctantly accepting her decision-
And I'm glad to hear that! I do really think this novel has a lot of potential, hence my compliment! As a (online) writer myself, I can definitely understand the amount of joy you get when someone compliments your work!

Thank you!! Yeah, writing Dia's death and having to compose her theme was really heart-breaking for me. And what's worse is when I work in her theme in other songs - you know, when you hear a character theme tucked away in a little tune and it makes you want to cry? That sort of shit. In the next update there's a lot of it, like lost echoes of who she used to be. But, I won't keep pestering you with comments (I feel like I do that a lot) so I'll leave it here and just say thank you so much. damn, i don't see many vns that aren't: GOTTA FUCK'EM ALL with different story, the best one i've seen is taigenchi, this is a really damn cool vn, the art style is cute and simplistic, the story is a good mix of dark, cute, and funny. 11/10 i love it
Ah, thank you so much!! I totally understand what you mean. While a lot of work goes into multiple routes and I applaud creators who take on the challenge, I kinda want Flatwood to be linear so everyone gets the same experience Lucas does! And plus Cooper is the best so :D

Ok this game caught my attention. The story so far is great! the plot literally grabbed my attention until the end of the current build. (which i did not expect at all btw ;c)
Lovable cast of characters, all of them having their own personality, backstories, and problems and objectives to deal with.
I love the atmosphere the setting had, and how everyone was affected by it. How everyone was doing everything they can despite their situation, to survive. well i personally wouldn't fall inlove with the one who saved me from the apocalypse (Sorry Cooper, Jason has my attention .p.) but you can definitely relate to the sadness Lucas felt for Cooper being generally avoided due to his infection. (That's Just Sad)

Nah jk. I will admit, I've tried to make Cooper the most likeable in the novel, but... it's interesting to see that you like Jason better. I do personally love him as well. Though I have always thought of the visual novel as a linear one (I want each reader to have the exact same experience)... your comment just now is making me think of different routes. Okay, so... That was amazing, I was feeling like shit (Nothing new here) and wanted to get away a little, so I started playing this VN. I tought I would just give up about 5 minutes in and go to sleep as usual, but I got so involved with the story, that I devoured the first chapter and fell in love with that world that was created (or the end of that world, lol). The art is lovely and the little backstory I saw about Coop, hits home like a truck.. the characters are sweet and Coop is best boi of course.. I'm already excited for the next build! sz
Btw, I love the protagonist colors, rare to find a VN where the character aren't all "normal colours".

It seems really strange this sort of infection, that seems to consume inside out to multiply and spread, but it seems like it doesn't or least directly go after plants, seeking living beings. The artwork may not be top tier, but I'd say it is more than good enough.
Based on how it ended, to purge the infection would be to nearly bleed to death so that it pumps itself out. to fight against what is already there, they have not tried, but throwing rocks, attempting to burn it, or other long reach/indirect contact measure. Unless they can expand their habitable radius, they will surely die within a week or two.
Interesting an infection that targets the blood (red), spreading through the body like a fungal infection, then pouring itself out to lie in wait for something to latch onto.
Yes, yes! This is a very in-depth take on the Epura. I'm so happy that it's getting a lot of thought put into it such as this! You're definitely going to see more of it in the future, especially with Cooper (since he's already infected). Hopefully he doesn't cark it like Dia! Poor thing.
And yes, they will absolutely die in a few weeks if they don't find a way to move it. Though, it's covered the planet like an ocean so even if they were to find a way to remove some of it, they're still pretty much screwed lol. Thank you so much for this comment, it's made my day! <3 <3
I like happy endings, but maybe this is juts the VN to be able to portray sharing what little time is left before the inevitable, to at least go out with some semblance of happiness.

Nope, this isn't crap. It's awesome for a first build. I would like to do something like this. But I have no time to do it, much less the skill to think a story and get to write it. And that totally makes sense. I like how you did that, losing so many people at once, it makes sense that most people would be in a shell-shocked kind of state. A sentiment shared by a few of them is that it still doesn't seem real, like they could wake up and it was all just a dream. I'm super excited to learn more about the crew (and Cooper's ducks)! Good thing no inciting incident will make them think any less of us :D ! I don't know who the shark boy is, but apparently he is a celebrity of sorts, so that will be interesting!
